HTC One X Codes

HTC One X
When HTC launched the HTC One X at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, U.S. consumers were very disappointed to hear that the version of the device heading to AT&T in the U.S. would have to give up its quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor in order to gain LTE support.

It turns out, though, that NVIDIA's LTE woes worked out in the U.S. market's favor - and in a big way. The dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor that is in the AT&T One X is flat out better. It's faster in most all benchmarks, runs cooler, and offers better battery life.

Wipe away those tears, geek-boy. This One X is even better than the European version I reviewed a short while ago, which pretty much makes it the best high-end smartphone available on the market today. Or May 6, when AT&T makes it available for purchase for $199.99.

Check out the video below comparing the AT&T HTC One X (also known as the One XL in global markets) with the original HTC One X for Europe for more proof.

Nokia Astound

Nokia Astound (T-Mobile USA) Symbian^3 smartphone review

Nokia Astound
The Nokia Astound is T-Mobile's version of the Nokia C7 Symbian^3 smartphone that is available in other parts of the world. It shares many similarities with the C7, including identical hardware. Some software tweaks have been added to Symbian^3 that are designed to enhance the users' experience, though. We did a full review of the C7 for European markets already, so we will be focusing on the tweaks and differences that T-Mobile has added to the Astound.

Hardware

The hardware remains the same as the C7: solid construction with nice materials and a good fit and finish. T-Mobile offers the Astound in a white and silver color scheme as opposed to the other options that are available worldwide. Some might not be fans of the color,
but we found it to be an attractive device nonetheless. The chrome bezel that surrounds the screen is reminiscent of the iPhone 3G and 3GS design, and we suspect that it will get quite beat up looking after some months of wear and tear.

The screen is the same 3.5-inch capacitive AMOLED unit with nHD (640 x 360 pixel) resolution as found on the C7. Colors are bright and the resolution is sharp enough as long as you are not looking too closely at it. Viewing angles are very good as well. The only issue we had with the screen was its performance in direct sunlight, where it can become very washed out and difficult to read.
The Astound also maintains the 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front camera of the C7. The rear camera still does not have autofocus, which we find to be a huge detriment. The extended depth of field lens can take acceptable pictures outdoors, however indoor subjects can prove troublesome. The dual-LED flash had a tendency to blow out the images harshly, not to mention that anything within a couple feet of the lens would be severely out of focus. Face-tracking is included and works as expected, maintaining a lock on our subjects faces quickly and accurately. The rear camera is also capable of recording 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) video at 25 frames per second. The quality of the video was ok, but the 25 fps frame rate will hold back capturing fast action. As far as the 1.3 megapixel front camera goes, the quality was not great and Nokia and T-Mobile did not package any software with the Astound to use the camera for video calling. At this point, it seems like it is a very "me-too" feature.

Call Quality

Call quality was very good with the Astound. Callers were able to hear us loud and clear and we could likewise understand them just as easily. T-Mobile has added its Wi-Fi Calling functionality to the Astound, which allows users to connect to their personal Wi-Fi network and use that to route calls over the internet as opposed to using a cellular signal. It is not a separate VoIP service, though, as your plans minutes will still be used while utilizing Wi-Fi Calling. Using the Wi-Fi Calling feature was seamless once we connected the phone to our Wi-Fi network and enable the option. Call quality was not noticeably different than when using the 3G network, but we imagine that it will be a very useful function for those whose homes or offices do not have a strong T-Mobile signal.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 taking on the Kindle Fire

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Summary

Until Amazon's Kindle Fire hit the market late last year, no Android-powered tablet had made even the smallest of impacts on the marketplace. With its $199.99 price tag and customized user interface, the Kindle Fire was a real success.

Samsung is now aiming to grab a significant piece of that success by building its own low-cost Android tablet. The catch is that Samsung's new entry, the Galaxy Tab
2 7.0, looks anything but low-cost. In fact, it features a much better spec sheet than the Kindle Fire, and uses the same streamlined body design as its more expensive brethren.

With a price of $249.99 for the Wi-Fi-only model, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is an instant best buy. And when you consider that it is one of the few devices on the market to offer Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as its operating system, it's even more of a steal.

How To Hide Mobile Data

HIDE DATA IN MOBILE PHONE WITHOUT ANY SOFTWARE

Hide Mobile Phone Memory Card Data
This trick can be used for any JAVA phone from Nokia,Samsung,Motorola,LG or any other company.
JUST FOLLOW SIMPLE STEPS
  1. Create any new folder or you can use any existing folder that is to be hidden.
  2. Rename the folder to any name but with the extension of .jad like if I want to hide my images folder then I will name it as IMG.jad
  3. Now create a new folder with the same name in the same directory but with the extension of .jar So, I would create the folder with the name IMG.jar
  4. And thats it!! My orignal images folder which has been renamed with .jad gets hidden and only folder with.jar extension is visible which is empty. So,my data is protected/hidden from unwanted eyes.

To unhide the orignal folder you have to remove the .jar extension from the new folder and your orignal folder with all the files and with .jad will become visible.

Functional Siri Without A Proxy Server

Functional Siri Without A Proxy Server or 4S Keys With AssistantServer Installer

Fully Functional Siri
Do you want siri on your older device but don’t want to pay up to $30 for a proxy server? Well then you should try “Assistant Server Installer”. It only costs $0.99 on the MacCiti repo (a default repo unless you deleted it).
AssistantServer Installer uses Google‘s speech to text feature to detect what you are saying and then give a response. This isn’t the full siri and doesn’t have as many features but is still a really good alternative.
Setting it up:

1. Install Spire from cydia.

2. Enter the following address in the Spire settings: http://127.0.0.1:4443

3. Purchase and install AssistantServer Installer from the MacCiti repo.

4. Go to settings>SiriServer and enter your API keys or use the links at the bottom to get some

(The first 3 are the most important). Then tap the “Update API keys” button.
5. Enable Siri in Settings>General>Siri.
6. Set the language to either English (US) or German. The other ones don’t work at the moment.
7. Go back to the SiriServer settings and tap “Start Server” to enable the siri server.
8. Use siri!
9. If the siri doesn’t work at this point then go back to siri settings, disable siri, then go back to SiriServer settings and tap “Remove Assistant plist”. Then enable siri and it should work (do this until it works).
Remember to tap “Update Server” every few days to get the latest version of the siri server from GitHub.
This tweak doesn’t support all of siri’s features but it will work with all siri addons on cydia. The great thing with this is that it also works with siri’s dictation feature (works with all languages).
Overall this is a great alternative to siri and at $0.99 theres no doubt in my mind that you should buy it. But keeping the server running all the time may wear the battery down faster so if you want to avoid this issue then you can get a better version of the google API server here or buy access to a siri proxy server that will support all of siri’s features here.
Name: AssistantServer Installer

Unfortunately its a tethered jailbreak (unless you have an old bootrom 3GS) meaning that every time you want to reboot your device or the battery goes dead you will have to plug your device into your PC or mac and run through the jailbreak process again to boot up (instructions below).
Dev Team Blog Post: http://bit.ly/HWw3GL
NOTES:

- This is a tethered jailbreak

- This works with iOS 5.1.1 and 5.1 (both are tethered)
- This does not work with the iPad 2, iPad 3 or iPhone 4S
- This works with the following devices:

iPod touch 3G & 4G

iPhone 3GS/4

iPad 1
- If you have an old bootrom iPhone 3GS this will be an untethered jailbreak
- This works on windows and mac.
First of all you will need to download the following files from the links below:

Step 7: Open Redsn0w and go to “Extras”
Step 8: Hit “Just boot” and enter DFU mode again by following the instructions in step 2
Step 9: When you boot up you should have a working tethered jailbreak on 5.1.1
