Sprint launches eco-friendly LG Optimus Elite smartphone
LG Optimus Elite smartphone |
The Optimus Elite is an entry-level smartphone, and it has the price and specs to match. It's powered by a single-core 800MHz processor and has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash on the back, but lacks a front-facing camera. The Optimus Elite does have NFC capabilities, and it supports the Google Wallet mobile payment service out of the box.
As with Sprint's other eco-friendly smartphones, the Optimus Elite is constructed of 50 percent recycled plastics, is free from hazardous materials like PVC, phthalates, halogens, and mercury, and comes in fully recyclable packaging printed with soy inks.
The LG Optimus Elite will be available from Sprint on April 22 for $29.99 with a new two-year contract. Buyers will be able to choose between white or silver versions. It will also be available from Sprint's pre-paid Virgin Mobile brand in the near future, but pricing and an exact release date have not yet been announced for the Virgin Mobile edition.
