Sprint, HTC announce the EVO 4G LTE with 4.7-inch 720p display, HD Voice

Sprint EVO 4G LTE
Sprint and HTC have just announced the EVO 4G LTE, the latest in Sprint's line of EVO Android smartphones. Like the HTC One X for AT&T that it shares much with, the EVO 4G LTE has a 4.7-inch, 720p HD display and 4G LTE support.

The EVO 4G LTE pretty much looks like a One X that has been "Sprint-ified," with its black finish and red accents. However, unlike the One X, which features a polycarbonate unibody, the EVO 4G LTE's rear is broken up by the flip-out kickstand. Unfortunately, the two piece metal and plastic body still does not provide access to the phone's internal battery, though it does offer access to a microSD card slot.
The battery itself is a large 2000mAh unit, but Sprint has not provided estimated talk or standby times for it.
Fortunately, the beautiful, 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 pixel Super LCD display that we loved so much on the One X is present, and the EVO 4G LTE also retains the 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front camera. The camera features a bright, f/2.0 aperture lens and backlit illuminated sensor for superior low light capabilities. The EVO 4G LTE also, unsurprisingly, has Beats Audio integration, a first for a Sprint device.
Powering the EVO 4G LTE is Qualcomm's dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It is paired with 1GB of RAM and the EVO 4G LTE's 16GB of internal storage.

The EVO 4G LTE is the first smartphone in Sprint's lineup to support the carrier's new HD Voice service that promises to offer fuller, richer sounding voice calls with diminished background noise.
As with the other One series smartphones from HTC, the EVO 4G LTE runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC's new Sense 4.0 interface. Sense 4.0 offers an advanced camera interface that allows users to take full resolution pictures while recording full 1080p video. The HTC EVO 4G LTE will be available sometime in the second quarter for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. Anxious customers will be able to place a pre-order starting May 7.
